HISTORY-ACCOMPLISHMENTS-GOALS
History:
- MEPCIS was organized in 1982 by local Clinical Engineering and Biomedical Equipment Technicians whose purpose is:
- To provide a forum for communication amoung Biomedical Instrumentation professionals.
- To promote interactions with other medical professional organizations.
- To support and encourage continuing education in the Clinical Engineering profession.
Accomplishments:
- Maintained an average bimonthly meeting attendance of 25 members.
- Successful with interacting with professional organizations such as: AORN, ECRI, HAP/CESP, JACHO, and LCCC.
- Organized a subcommittee to form a set of electrical safety standards that would be followed by all MEPCIS members.
- The exchange of important technical information on an informal basis has been proven to be invaluable to MEPCIS members.
- MEPCIS has hosted more than 70 dinner meetings for manufacturers' technical representatives to provide information on such topics as : ETO Analysis, Ventilation Mechanics, IV Pumps, Physiologic Monitoring Systems, Dialysis,
ESU's, Electrical Safety Standards, and Roundtable Technical Discussions.
- Hosted service schools in conjunction with manufactureers such as Valleylab, OHMEDA, Critikon, Physio-control and others.
Goals:
- Expand MEPCIS membership to encompass more local clinical engineering departments/ organizations and medical equipment manufacturers.
- Continue to provide a forum of communication and education to MEPCIS members and all who are interested, through meetings, seminars, and service schools.
- Agree on inspection, PM, repair, and procedural "Standards of Practice" between MEPCIS members.
